The public places their confidence and trust in child welfare professionals to make critical decisions that significantly impact children and families' lives. Because of that trust, child welfare professionals must incorporate core values and ethical principles into decision-making.

Beyond improving the quality and integrity of service provision, child welfare professionals will want to be knowledgeable about the code and ethical decision-making skills to protect themselves and their agencies from liability. The law can be ambiguous in many of the complex situations that arise in child welfare. 

Purpose

This course provides the primary principles governing ethical decision-making. Trainees will be allowed time to review information to enhance their awareness of moral principles and be provided with opportunities to apply them. 

Objectives
After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Define ethics
  • Discuss ethical principles
  • Identify ethical and unethical behavior
  • Discuss and apply an ethical framework

Upon successful completion of training participants will receive 3 Ethics CEU's.
