Developed through a partnership with LCWTA and Vivo CPR, this course is designed to support the first aid knowledge and skills of all stakeholders. The course provides all stakeholders with a review of the essential steps for administering CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) on unresponsive infants, children, and adults. Participants of this course will also review how to provide emergency assistance to choking infants, children, and adults. 

***NOTE: Participants of this course will not receive an official CPR certification. This course provides information on first aid CPR, but does meet the requirements for participants to become CPR certified through an accredited agency.

Learning Objectives:

  • Know the steps and techniques for administering adult, child, and infant CPR when needed
  • Grasp complex components of administering high-quality CPR
  • Give effective breaths by using mouth-to-mouth for all age groups
  • Familiarize yourself with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and how to use it
  • Recognize when to help a choking adult, child, or infant

DCFS Foster Caregivers have certain rights and responsibilities to guide them in meeting the needs of children and youth in their care. In addition, there are certain prohibitive practices when caring for a child in DCFS custody. This course will provide an overview of R & R and prohibitive practices.  Upon completion of this course, the participants will have an understanding of their rights as a foster caregiver along with the responsibilities when caring for children in DCFS custody.

Every day the safety and well-being of some children across Louisiana are threatened by child abuse and neglect. Mandated reporters play a crucial role in helping to keep children safe. 

Objectives of this training are:
1. Recognize who is a mandated reporter and who is a permissive reporter.
2. Understand the legal obligations of a mandated reporter.
3. Make a report of suspected abuse and/or neglect to DCFS through either the Child Abuse Hotline or the Online Mandated Reporter Portal, and how to submit a follow-up report.
4. Recognize the signs and symptoms of child abuse and neglect.
5. Identify groups of children at higher risk for abuse/neglect.
6. Apply techniques to use if a child discloses abuse or neglect to you.

This training will help you learn your rights and obligations as a mandated reporter. In return, you will help keep children safe and build stronger families in Louisiana.
